While South Carolina's political establishment wrestles with the fate of Gov. Mark Sanford (R-S.C.), Ron Parks has already moved on. He's one of the organizers of a July 4 Tea Party in Charleston, a rally that will celebrate America and protest the way that President Barack Obama is governing it.
"We had 6,000 people show up at the last Tea Party in Charleston, on April 15, when [Gov.] Sanford spoke, said Parks, a contractor who lost his job earlier this year and quickly found work as a volunteer with the Tea Party movement. "We're expecting fewer people this time, but I'd love to have to eat my words."
Let's hope we all remember the true meaning of our 4th of July holiday!
Happy Independence Day Everyone!!! :]
You too, and my fellow NVers! Celebrate!
Need......more hot water ....for the tea bags I mean?????????
I loved Obamas address to the nation today!!! Good man Obama.....
Thanks Sarah, you effectively tanked these events. Who cares what a few "Average Joe" right wing wackos are up to when the Queen of right wing wackos is holding a press conference?
I think they need to fly the GOP flag upside down at these tea parties!!
Today is the day for celebration the protests should wait for another day!
I think you're correct (I won't say right -ha ha) regarding flying the GOP flag upside down- everywhere. This is in reference to their "SURRENDER"! Now that's funny - to me!
There's a "tea party" protest in town that's supposed to start at 1:00. I joked earlier in the week about checking it out but now I seriously think I will just for the comic value. I wish I were taking a course in sociology right now so I could use it for extra credit. If anyone (who isn't like me - there for comic relief) shows up, I'll report back later.
Very interesting. Keep us posted. Thanks Kate.
Who knows maybe you'll see Glen Beck crying on stage!! :]
It is sad they use the term "Tea Party" - when what they're doing is so far from the original premise of the Boston Tea Party.
But hey - go Sanford! Maybe Ensign will speak this time.
Fox Cable News killed the Tea Party momentum by making it their story, instead of the protesters. Fox out for Fox...
Happy independence day one and all.
For those in other countries, join us in celebrating by standing up for your own independence.
Here, here. Bravo! Remember, We're All In This Together.
